Against the Wind – 10/8/07

Bad Good

Wind Cheater
When you want to hit shots under a head wind, don’t play the ball way back in your stance and hit down on it harder than normal. This technique, which is very common among amateurs, tends to produce chunks, thin shots and occasionally solid shots that have a ton of spin and balloon up into the wind. To play this shot effectively, simply move the ball a bit back from where you normally play it, select more club than normal and concentrate on making a smooth, controlled swing. By swinging
easier, you’ll allow your body to stay in sync and will be more likely to compress the ball.

Swing smoothly with a balanced motion in the wind. Your arms will fully extend and create solid contact.
