9. Chipping

Although it's tempting to hit chips indoors, all it takes is one broken lamp to realize that golf is an outdoor activity. Nevertheless, you can improve your chipping technique within the friendly confines of your own living room with the help of a wooden dowel or broken golf shaft.Take the dowel and place it through the hole on the top of the grip on a pitching wedge. Push the dowel roughly eight to 12 inches down the butt end of the shaft (a little Vaseline may help the dowel slide easier through the clubshaft). Two to three feet of the dowel should extend outward from the top of the grip.

If your left wrist breaks down (a flaw that can cause a lot of short-game misery), you'll feel the protruding portion of the dowel hit against your left side. In addition to guarding against wrist breakdown, the dowel will also help you to establish the proper hands-forward position at address—a crucial factor for clean contact.

The dowel also will force you to keep your hands moving forward and swing the club down the target line in the followthrough. Once you master this drill, you'll be able to get up and down with the best of them.

As you perform these drills, you'll begin to see the value of other everyday items in helping you improve your game. Don't be afraid to experiment—you may just develop the next must-have training aid.

    1. You know that the traditional golf swing is so hard to time. Even professionals who practice every day struggle sometimes with timing. But for the average golfer timing is next to impossible with the traditional golf swing. However, that’s all going to change for you now. Because in The Stress-Free Golf swing there’s only one move you need to perfect. And when you implement this one move, it will drive your entire swing and help you to hit the ball properly and with control! http://dld.bz/secretbenhoganmove

      1. Alex, that is very common.

What often happens is people will use their arms more to add power. This messes up the technique completely. Remember, power comes from the hips and everything should flow together. It’s really worth checking out the guide ‘Monster Golf Swing’ which really helps with this. You can find it at: http://www.MonsterSwing.info

GolfTipsMag also have loads of gems on their website to learn from. Hope this helps!

  1. You forget the most important tip. KEEP THE SPINE IN PLACE and rotate around it. That way you impact the ball just as you set it up. Greatest golf fault is getting the spine out of place. If you manage to not do that all the rest is just simple fine tuning.

  2. One point I think it?۪s for every golfers that power comes from the body not from the arm but the steps you described will be appropriate for a left hander as well? I got a good PDF how to use the left palm during a swing from TheGolfersWebsite. If anybody wants then I can share that PDF here.

  3. Tip number three is something that took me a long time to learn. I lost a lot of accuracy and finesse when I tired to put a lot of power into my hit. Once I focused on my form, the power came naturally. The Happy Gilmore method doesn’t really work.

  4. That makes sense that you’d want to use your body for power in your swing. The whole body working together has more strength than your arms do alone. I bet that will improve my swing. I know that I have the tendency to only use my arms, so this will be an adjustment.

  5. I am constantly on the lookout for informative golfing blogs. Not only do I work in a golf schools I am also an avid golfer. There is always room for knowledge and improvement when it comes to golf. I really enjoyed this post and always look forward to learning more! Great read!
