The Oakley Prizm Sport Golf lens changed the game when it debuted last year, and now the same performance benefits come in a darker lens optimized for sunny days. The Oakley Prizm Dark Golf lens brings out fine detail with precise light filtering that’s specifically engineered for the golf environment. It enhances visual contrast, and the color of the lens has a more neutral aesthetic for those who prefer a more casual look on the course. “The Prizm dark lens is more for those hot days with very bright sunlight, offering a darker lens with the same pop for reds and browns,” said Oakley spokesperson Erin Byrnes.
To play golf well, you have to do more than just read the green. You need to spot the transitions between the fairway, fringe and rough. You have to gauge distance with accuracy, and you need a good eye for grass textures. The Prizm Sport’s separation of colors creates more depth cues to gauge distance for any shot from the tee box to the green, helping golfers easily differentiate grass conditions and grain direction to predict ball speed. “It’s our hero technology,” Byrnes said.
Other design features appeal to golfers in a unique way, especially in the way, say, the Targetline sits on the golfer’s face. It was specifically built for golf though it’s a lot more lifestyle than a lot of the performance brands you will see,” Byrnes contined. “It goes down along the top so it fits under a hat perfectly. Along the bottom it’s a little lower than a lot of our other glasses, giving you more field of view. So while you’re swinging you’ll still be able to use the technology. There’s a no-slip grip in the arms and in the nosepad.”
