Focus On: Pinehurst, Southern Pines & Aberdeen
Just about every type of accommodation is available in the Pinehurst, Southern Pines and Aberdeen area, including bed-and-breakfasts, motels, hotels, condominiums and luxury resorts. If you like to stay at "all-inclusive" resorts with golf, dining and other amenities just a short walk away, then it's hard to beat Pinehurst Resort, Pine Needles and Mid Pines Inn. If you plan to explore the area, then you might want to stay at one of the area's many historic bed-and-breakfasts.
Pine Needles Started by legendary professional golfer and teacher, Peggy Kirk Bell, Pine Needles' "Golfari," a "safari of golf," is "an expedition for golfers who want to improve their games and have fun." Adult Golfaris last six days and five nights and include morning instruction and afternoon play (ladies and junior classes available, too). In addition to the Golfaris, Pine Needles also offers private instruction and clinics.
Pinehurst Golf Academy With a 4-1 student-teacher ratio, the Pinehurst Golf Academy offers plenty of one-on-one time. With a number of school schedules to choose from (morning, weekend and weeklong, for example), it's easy to find one that fits your schedule. In addition to receiving instruction by some of the country's best teachers, each student will leave with a CD containing a personalized video of swing analysis and key swing thoughts that will help you continue to improve.
Longleaf Golf and Country Club Headed by Director of Golf, Mike Floyd and head professional, Virgil Haley, Longleaf offers individual instruction for adults and juniors.
Pinewild Country Club With a focus on fundamentals, head instructor Tom Ream and his staff set their goal to make golfers more consistent. One-, two- and four-day schools are scheduled from March to October. "Short Game Only" and "Playing Schools" also are available for golfers looking to fine-tune specific components of their games. Each student receives a take-home video and a written full swing evaluation. Private lessons, group lessons, lesson series and clinics also are available.
The Pit Golf Links The Pit's "Survival Golf School" is a three-night, two-day boot camp with a 4:1 student-teacher ratio, more than 10 hours of golf instruction, club fitting, "on course" instruction and lots of "regimented" instruction.
